Apple is preparing to showcase its 2023 Pro iPhone lineup with a new special color, as it has become a tradition for the company to debut a new finish that complements the more well-known gold, black, gray, and silver.
For this year’s iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max Apple is testing a new dark red color that appears to be maroon-like, sources have told 9to5Mac. The color hex code is #410D0D, and seems to be a deep red with a hint of brown. It is unclear at this stage if other colors will be updated, as was the case with Space Black on 14 Pro and Pro Max. Apple tweaked its lighter gray graphite finish from the 12 Pro and 13 Pro to a darker and richer Space Black on its current Pro iPhone lineup.
The report doesn’t elaborate on the appearance of the new color, as Apple could opt for a brushed matte look on the new titanium housing for the 15 Pro akin to the Apple Watch Ultra, or it could keep the same shiny look on the metal edges adopted for the iPhone X and all subsequent Pro iPhones.

The base iPhone 15 devices are also set to receive at least two new colors. 9to5Mac indicates that the new colors currently in testing are light blue and magenta-like pink, with hex codes #0DB1E2 and #CE3B6C, respectively.
The last iPhone to be released in pink was the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, albeit in a much more subtle tint. However, blue iPhones have been released consistently in the past several years in different shades. It remains unclear if other new colors are planned in addition to the standard Midnight, Starlight, and (PRODUCT)RED.
