Apple has announced its first Apple Store will open in India later this month after nearly three years of delays caused by the global health pandemic. Opening in Mumbai, Apple BKC will be the first Apple Store to open in India and will be located at the Jio World Drive Mall.
An image shared by the company to TechCrunch reveals a glimpse of the design of the upcoming store. The store is “inspired by the iconic Kaali Peeli taxi art unique to Mumbai,” Apple said in a statement. The store includes “colorful interpretations of the decals combined with many Apple products and services that will be available for our customers to discover.”
The tech giant has repeatedly said it hoped to open a store in India soon, especially as the country plays a more critical role in the company’s supply chain. The company launched its online store in India in September 2020, representing the first major retail push into the country. Apple CEO Tim Cook teased the launch of the first physical retail store during the company’s earnings call in February.
