Apple today released iOS 16.4.1 and iPadOS 16.4.1 to the public, bringing some bug fixes and security improvements to iPhone and iPad users. The minor update comes 10 days after the release of iOS 16.4, which included features like 21 new emojis and standalone 5G support.

Today’s update fixes a bug with Siri responsiveness and a skin tone variation issue with the pushing hands emoji, according to the release notes. Beyond security improvements, iOS 16.4.1 comes as many users around the world are having difficulties with the Weather app unable to load forecast information for many regions.

This update provides important bug fixes and security updates for your iPhone including:

  • Pushing hands emoji does not show skin tone variations
  • Siri does not respond in some cases

iOS 16.4.1 comes as Apple continues to test iOS 16.5 with developers and public beta testers. iOS 16.5 is likely to be the last major iOS 16 update before Apple announces iOS 17 at WWDC in June. Over the summer, iOS 17 will undergo beta testing before a public launch in the fall alongside the latest iPhones.

Apple today also released macOS 13.3.1 for Mac users. All qualified iPhone and iPad users can now install iOS and iPadOS 16.4.1 by visiting Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install.
