Spotify now offers a Lock Screen widget on its iPhone app. The new widget lets users quickly open the app with one tap via their iOS 16 Lock Screens. The widget is part of the latest version 8.8.26 of the Spotify app, available on the App Store today.
The Lock Screen widget joins two other Home Screen “Recently Played” widgets showing users their most commonly accessed albums, artists, playlists, and podcasts. Spotify’s Home Screen widgets come in two sizes – a small one that offers one piece of media and a medium widget that displays up to four recently played items.
Spotify has often been slow to include new features on Apple’s software as the companies are embroiled in fierce antitrust legal disputes. While Spotify offers CarPlay and Apple Watch app support, the company is yet to adopt certain established features like AirPlay 2 and native stereo support for HomePod devices.
