- Leaker claims iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may be available in cyan color
- iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to adopt the "frosted glass" back currently exclusive to "Pro" iPhone models
- The cyan color could be similar to the finish offered on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini
- The report comes from the same leaker who predicted the yellow iPhone 14
Apple could be prepping a new “cyan” colorway for the iPhone 15 with a frosted glass rear finish, according to a reputable leaker on Weibo.
According to the source, the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models could adopt the “frosted glass” back design that has remained exclusive to iPhone models featuring the “Pro” moniker since 2019’s iPhone 11 Pro. Apple currently differentiates standard iPhone models from “Pro” iPhone models by offering the former with a glossy back finish, compared to a textured matte finish on the latter.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models could also adopt a greenish blue “cyan” color similar to the offering featured on 2020’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini models, according to another post from the same source.
This leak comes from the same Weibo user who correctly predicted the launch of the yellow colorway for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus earlier this year. Recent rumors surrounding the iPhone 15 lineup have broadly referenced the matte titanium frame and solid-state buttons expected to complement this year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models. Apple could be aiming to highlight the rumored matte titanium edges of its new iPhone models for professionals by swapping the textured backplate for a glossy glass finish.
