Apple officially announced that it is expanding its Emergency SOS via satellite service available on all iPhone 14 models to users in Australia and New Zealand starting today.
Emergency SOS via satellite requires iPhone 14 models running iOS 16.4 or later in Australia and New Zealand. Users will be able to make use of the feature by sending a text message via satellite if they are unable to dial 000 in Australia or 111 in New Zealand when no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage is detected.
In addition to Australia and New Zealand, the emergency service is also available in Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, the UK, and the US. The service is available free of charge for the first two years after the activation of a new iPhone 14 model, with no word yet on how much it would cost following the two-year period.
