VIRGINIA — Apple today held a grand reopening of Apple Tysons Corner at its new location in the Tysons Corner Center Mall in McLean, Virginia, USA. The new store presents a pivoted take on Apple’s retail store design philosophy, debuting precisely 22 years following the original Tysons Corner Apple store opening in 2001.

The original Tysons Corner Apple Store is recognized as the first-ever Apple store, making today’s grand reopening a landmark event. Apple says that the store represents “a new chapter,” with the new location marking the first significant redesign of an Apple store since Apple began rolling out its “new store design” in 2015.
The new location features terrazzo floors, sustainably-sourced wooden alcoves, and distinct product avenues. The store also resurrects a dedicated Genius Bar section that is notably absent from other retail locations, including those redesigned or newly constructed within the last eight years.
Apple Tyson’s Corner also features lower tables and wider aisles between them to make the store more accessible for shoppers browsing by wheelchair. This explicit attention to accessibility is befitting, with the new store design being revealed on Global Accessibility Awareness Day.
