Roughly four months after its launch on iPhone, Apple has brought Apple Music Classical to Android, giving Android users access to Apple Music’s rich catalog of classical music in an app designed specifically for this genre of music (via 9to5Mac).
Apple Music Classical came to be as a result of Apple’s acquisition of Primephonic in 2021. Apple initially said it would launch a standalone app for classical music in 2022, but the app faced delays and was ultimately two years late. The app features a design taliored specifically for classical music, including how it treats metadata and organization.
The Apple Music app has been available on Android since November 2015, six months after the app first launched on iOS. Interestingly, Apple Music Classical is not yet available on iPad or Mac, despite its expansion to Android. For iPad and Mac, the Apple Music app itself features classical music, but lacks the custom organizational structure and design offered by Apple Music Classical.
Apple Music Classical is available at no extra cost for Apple Music subscribers, which costs $10.99 per month with the individual plan or $16.99 a month for the family package.
