Apple Vision Pro headset is equipped with an external battery that attaches to the headset via a connector located on the headset’s left temple. As reported earlier, the external battery pack only offers up to two hours of mixed usage.
Apple didn’t offer any tech specs surrounding the external battery, but the massive array of sensors embedded on the inside and the outside of the headset, in addition to the dual 4K micro-OLED screens, are sure to be the culprits behind Vision Pro’s relatively short battery life. The good news is that Apple claims the headset would still be usable when directly plugged into a power source, even if users will be limited in their movement.
Apple touts Vision Pro’s external battery as “high-performance.” The massive battery pack connects to the headset via a woven cable, with a MagSafe-like connector at the cable’s end that rotates clockwise into a locked state on the left temple of the headset. The external battery features a USB-C port that is seemingly used to charge itself.

It is still unclear how Apple Vision Pro will support a plugged-in mode for “all-day use.” It is likely that users will have to plug in the external battery rather than the headset itself into a power source via the battery pack’s USB-C port, with it acting as an intermediary between the power source and Apple Vision Pro.
Apple today announced its Vision Pro mixed-reality headset and accompanying visionOS software platform. The headset will be available early next year initially in the US only, with prices starting at $3,499.
