Apple today released iOS 16.5.1 to the public, nearly a month after the initial release of iOS 16.5. The minor update provides stability and security fixes across the board to all iPhone devices that support iOS 16.

Users who wish to download iOS 16.5.1 can do so by navigating to Settings -> General -> Software Update. According to Apple’s release notes, iOS 16.5.1 offers “important security fixes and is recommended for all users.” The update also fixes an issue that was affecting the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter that prevented charging through the adapter.

The minor update also comes nearly two weeks after Apple released its first developer beta of iOS 17. Prior to iOS 17’s release in the fall, Apple is expected to release iOS 16.6 to the public as the update is already undergoing beta testing with developers and public beta testers. The minor iOS 16 update is expected to be released sometime in the summer before iOS 17 makes its way to the public in September alongside the iPhone 15 lineup.
