Apple is currently said to be actively working on several new devices that it aims to release during the next 12 months. The devices under development span the company’s entire lineup of products including new iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter.

In addition to the expected annual updates to the iPhone and Apple Watch – namely the iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Series 9 – Gurman also anticipates Apple to refresh its premium Apple Watch Ultra. While Gurman did not divulge further details on what to expect with the new Ultra, it is likely that it will carry an updated S9 System-in-Package (SiP) processor, in addition to new bands and perhaps a new case color to supplement the current Natural titanium finish.

Apple is also readying a trio of new iPad models, adds Gurman. The company is expected to announce radically redesigned iPad Pros with OLED displays in early 2024, alongside a minor iPad Air refresh. The new iPad Pros would be the first iPads to come with OLED displays, whereas the more affordable iPad Air is expected to stick with the familiar Liquid Retina display with LCD technology. The M3 chip is likely headed to the new iPad Pros, whereas the iPad Air would see a jump from the M1 chip to the M2.

On the Mac side, Apple is preparing a range of updates for all of its MacBook laptops in addition to a new iMac. Expect the M3 chip on the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air, and 24-inch iMac in the first upgrade to the all-in-one desktop in over two years. Apple is also working on new M3 Pro and M3 Max chips slated to arrive on refreshed 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.

Gurman expects the new iMac to be the first Mac to be released with the M3 chip sometime later this year or in early 2024. Since Apple just announced the 15-inch MacBook Air earlier this month, Gurman doesn’t see the refreshed MacBooks hitting the market no earlier than the first half of next year.

New Apple products beyond 2024

Looking further out, Apple is in the early stage of developing new versions of existing devices in addition to completely new products, adds Gurman. The company is working on third-generation AirPods Pro as well as a new iteration of the Apple TV with minor spec bumps. Work continues to be conducted on dedicated “home equipment” including smart home displays.

Gurman also revealed that Apple is in the preliminary development stage of a new iMac with a larger than 30-inch screen. The bigger iMac is not slated to be released anytime soon, and could likely be released in 2025 or beyond.
