Apple today announced that developers can now sign up to receive Apple Vision Pro development kits. Last month, the company announced that development kits for its new “spatial computer” headset would be available to developers in July, and developers can now apply to receive development kits starting today.
Successful applicant developers will receive a loaned-out Vision Pro unit to help them develop and test visionOS apps and games. Additionally, developers will get access to valuable support from Apple to build apps and games for visionOS, including:
- Initial Vision Pro setup and onboarding
- Regular check-ins with Apple engineers and designers for help with designing and developing refined experiences for visionOS
- Up to two additional code-level support troubleshooting requests for help with any code issues
As usual, Apple has imposed strict rules for loaned-out Vision Pro units. The company says that the development kit headsets are strictly Apple property, and will require to be stored in a secure place where only assigned developers can access it. Apple intends to be in regular contact with developers who possess the kit, which will need to be returned to the company at their sole discretion.
