Apple could be readying multiple new colors for the base iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models as has been the case with previous iPhone generations. The latest colors rumored to be in testing include rose gold, orange, and a few others, according to a new rumor on X.
According to @URedditor, as many as six different shades were at testing at one point for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Prior rumors have indicated that Apple was testing a light blue and magenta-like pink for the upcoming base iPhone models. Today’s rumor mentions orange as a candid color for the first time, although @URedditor’s phrasing is doubtful of that color’s existence in the first place, let alone making it to final production.
These are the colors that were tested on the base model iPhone 15, throughout different development stages:
– Pink / Rose Gold / Blush Gold
– Green
– Blue
– Yellow
– Orange (inconsistent mentions)
– Black / Midnight / Dark / Basalt

If orange is indeed a new color for the iPhone 15, it could be markedly similar to the “Coral” finish that Apple introduced as an option for the iPhone XR released in 2018. Coral was described as a slightly vibrant pastel color with a hue that sits between orange and pink depending on surrounding light and the angle at which it reflects off the phone.
Pink could also make a new appearance with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, adds @URedditor. Corroborating previous rumors of Apple testing some sort of a pink color finish, today’s rumor indicates that the pink shade in testing is likely to resemble a faint and subtle hue that could mimic the “Rose Gold” finish which came as an option for the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, and iPhone SE.
While @URedditor omits any mention of white as a color option for the base iPhones, it is likely that the color will be available remaining unchanged compared to the “Starlight” finish first introduced with the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini back in 2021.
If the rumor proves correct, the base iPhone 15 devices will reintroduce new shades including pink, green, and orange which are absent from the current iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, and were present in previous iPhone generations. Even if Apple reuses current colors like blue or yellow, the company will likely adopt different shades to distinguish the iPhone 15 from previous models.
