iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are now likely to see their maximum storage configurations capped at the current 1TB offering as both devices could offer multiple RAM configurations for the first time in an iPhone, according to new information courtesy of MacRumors.
According to the publication, there’s no hard evidence that Apple has ever tested the rumored 2TB configuration for the iPhone 15 Pro, indicating that both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have been tested with the same storage configurations as the current iPhone 14 Pro.
Apple has apparently tested a 128GB storage option in addition to the current maximum of 1TB, indicating that storage configurations in the upcoming iPhone Pro devices will indeed remain unchanged for the third year running since the introduction of the 1TB option on the iPhone 13 Pro.

Looking at RAM, MacRumors’ sources indicate that Apple intends to continue deploying LPDDR5 technology for the iPhone 15 Pro’s memory, the same type of RAM technology already used on the iPhone 14 Pro. On the other hand, Apple could increase the amount of RAM offered on the iPhone 15 Pro, as the publication reports that the company has apparently tested 6GB and 8GB RAM configurations for the upcoming iPhone.
At this point, it still remains unclear which configuration Apple will go with once the devices are mass-produced, though the company could offer both RAM configurations depending on the storage capacity of each iPhone, with 8GB of RAM theoretically reserved for 512GB or 1TB storage options, while 128GB and 256GB options stick with 6GB of RAM.
Apple already adopts a similar strategy with the iPad Pro, as the tablet offers 16GB of RAM with only the 1TB or 2TB storage configurations.
