A significant proportion of Apple employees are satisfied with Tim Cook’s performance as the company’s CEO, making him one of the most popular chief executive officers of tech companies in the United States. The findings are courtesy of a new survey conducted by Blind.
The survey asked 13,171 verified employees on Blind‘s social media platform to rate the performance of their respective employer’s CEO. The surveyees were presented with a single “Do you approve or disapprove of the way your CEO is handling their job?” question, to which they could respond with “strongly approve,” “somewhat approve,” “somewhat disapprove,” “strongly disapprove” and “no opinion.”
According to the survey’s results, Tim Cook was ranked as the fourth-highest most approved CEO out of 103, with 83% of surveyed Apple employees approving of his performance as the company’s most senior executive. On the other hand, 13% of the company’s employees disapproved of how Cook runs and manages Apple, while 4% remained neutral over his tenure. These numbers cement Cook as the second-most popular “Big Tech” CEO in 2023 behind Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, coming in first with an impressive 96% approval rate.

Cook’s rating is also much higher than the average CEO approval rate, which Blind found to be just about 32%. CEOs of Apple’s competitors didn’t fare too well on the survey, with Google’s Sundar Pichai receiving approval from just 26% of his surveyed employees. Satya Nadella received favorable opinions from 30% of Microsoft’s employees, whereas 45% of Meta’s workforce approved of Mark Zuckerberg’s performance.
Blind notes that almost all top 10 ranking CEOs did not indulge in mass layoffs which have been affecting the industry over the course of the past 12 months or so. Cook previously addressed mass layoffs concerns at Apple as a “last resort” option as the company is rumored to have undertaken other measures to reduce its costs.
