Apple could be on track to announce at least three refreshed iPad models by the end of this month, according to a new rumor circulating on Chinese microblogging website Weibo.
According to the leaker who goes by the moniker “Instant Digital,” the company might announce refreshes to three of its iPad models as soon as the end of this month. The models in question would be a seventh-generation iPad mini, a sixth-generation iPad Air, and an 11th-generation iPad.
The leaker claims that the refreshed iPad mini 7 will be equipped with the A16 Bionic chip, an upgrade over the A15 Bionic powering the current model of Apple’s smallest iPad. The company is also looking to reduce the effects of “jelly scrolling,” a problem that is observed on the current iPad mini.

Additionally, “Instant Digital” claims that Apple will rotate the screen assembly of the tablet in a bid to reduce the effects of “jelly scrolling,” which causes displayed content to appear laggy and choppy especially when scrolling due to inconsistent refresh rates. Apple is also looking to improve the front-facing camera on the tablet, adds the leaker.
Apple is also working on a refresh for its iPad Air by upgrading its processor to the M2 chip, the leaker adds. The move would bring the iPad Air to the same performance levels as the high-end iPad Pro, even for a few months ahead of the premium iPad’s expected overhaul with the M3 chip.
Finally, Apple could also release the 11th-gen iPad. The company has consistently upgraded its entry-level tablet over the past few years with recent A-series chips, and this year’s upgrade could see the iPad move from the three-year-old A14 Bionic chip to something more modern.
All in all, October is shaping up to be a stacked month for Apple if these rumors prove correct. The company might also announce new Mac models judging by internal adjustments to its trade-in program.
