Apple today released the second beta of iOS 17.2, and the new beta enables recording Spatial Video on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max that can later be consumed on Vision Pro.
The new video capture mode can be enabled after updating to the new iOS 17.2 beta on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max by navigating to Settings app > Camera > Formats > and toggling Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro. Apple says the best video results are obtained when the recording iPhone is kept in landscape orientation and stable.
Video resolution and framerate are currently limited to 1080p and 30 fps. Apple approximates that a minute of Spatial Video recording can take up to 130 MB of storage space.

Spatial Videos captured with an iPhone 15 Pro can still be played back on the device, but when viewed on the iPhone, they appear as regular videos void of any 3D effects. Spatial Videos have a “Spatial” label indicating their compatibility for 3D viewing on the Vision Pro.
Apple first announced Spatial Video as part of Vision Pro’s reveal at WWDC 2023. The company says that the feature allows you to capture and playback 3D video directly on the mixed-reality headset. During the iPhone 15 Pro’s reveal in September, Apple revealed that capturing Spatial Video will enabled exclusively on its new Pro iPhone in a future iOS 17 update by the end of the year.
Vision Pro is set to go on sale in the United States early next year starting at $3,499.
