Apple today unveiled a new feature for its Apple Books reading app. “Year in Review” offers readers a recap of the top books and audiobooks throughout 2023 with a personalized review of all the titles they’ve read.

“Year in Review” is available for free to users in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom for iPhones and iPads running iOS 17.1 and iPadOS 17.1. With the new feature, readers can visualize data on their reading habits in 2023 including total time spent reading, highest-rated book, longest titles they’ve read, completed series, breakdown by favorite authors and genres, and more.

“Year in Review” can be accessed under the Read Now tab of the Books app under Top Picks for readers who have finished reading at least three books in 2023 by selecting Mark as Finished. Apple says “Year in Review” offers six different reader types that users can find themselves as part of.

Year in Review uses anonymized reader insights to determine a personal reading type. There are six reader types to discover, including The Contemporary for readers of trendy titles; The Completist for readers of multiple books in a series; The Seeker for nonfiction readers; The Wanderer for multigenre readers; The Deep Diver for single-genre readers; or The Free Spirit for readers with wide-ranging interests across the book world.
