Apple is considering renaming Apple ID into “Apple Account” with the change possibly going public later this year, according to new information sourced by MacRumors.
According to the report, the company is toying with the idea of rebranding the familiar Apple ID name into Apple Account. The company is in the advanced stages of testing the new moniker which could be announced publicly at WWDC 2024 as part of iOS 18 and other software releases. The report adds that the change will be reflected system-wide on iOS 18, macOS 15, and Apple’s website should the company go ahead with the outlined rebrand.
Apple’s intentions behind the new name remain unclear, but the report adds that it could be nothing more than a rebrand for the feature that has carried the same name since its inception. However, the report warns that plans for the Apple Account rebrand are yet to be finalized and could be axed anytime. It’s entirely possible that the company could elect to keep the familiar Apple ID name intact.
