Apple’s first product with a foldable display will be a new MacBook model that will feature a 20.3-inch foldable panel, according to new information shared by esteemed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo on X today.

According to the analyst, who has a solid track record of reporting on Apple’s unannounced plans, despite Apple having multiple prototypes with a foldable display, the company only has concrete plans to release a foldable MacBook at present. Mass production for the rumored MacBook should commence by 2027 and is said to feature a 20.3-inch foldable OLED panel, one that would likely replace the trackpad and keyboard with a continuous screen surface that extends to the laptop’s main display.

Kuo today reaffirmed previous reporting that Apple has no immediate plans to release a foldable iPhone before 2025 at the earliest, with the company reportedly working on early prototypes. Kuo also appeared to be shutting down rumors concerning a new iPad mini with a foldable display that was said to carry an 8.3-inch OLED panel and launch in 2026.

A recent report from The Information explored Apple’s efforts with prototyping foldable iPhones, noting that such a device is unlikely to reach mass production within the next two years at the earliest. On the other hand, an iPad mini-like device was rumored as a candidate for Apple’s first device with a foldable display, with the company exploring display prototypes from Samsung and LG for the product.

New MacBook hardware with a 20-inch foldable display has repeatedly been rumored by other sources, and there appears to be consensus that Apple is seriously investing in its development before a planned 2027 launch.
