The iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to introduce a new tentatively named Capture button for camera control, and leaked CAD drawings obtained by 91mobiles provide another look at the new button alongside other planned changes for the device.

The CAD drawings reveal a design that is largely similar to the iPhone 15 Pro and previous Pro iPhone generations. For starters, the drawings depict a larger Action button on the iPhone 16 Pro, one that is taller and wider than the current implementation of the button on the iPhone 15 Pro. The new Action button is also expected to be slightly wider than the volume buttons.

On the other hand, the new Capture button is located on the iPhone 16 Pro’s opposite side and beneath the Side button. The new button would take the same spot as the 5G mmWave antenna found in current iPhone models sold in the United States. The antenna cutout is likely to be relocated beneath the volume buttons on the iPhone 16 Pro.

The CAD drawings note that the Capture button sits completely flush with the rest of the device and does not protrude, unlike all other buttons. This could mean that the button will not be a mechanical one, but will instead be capacitive and even rely on pressure to trigger certain functions. According to rumors, the Capture button will primarily be used to control certain camera settings, including zoom levels, readjusting focus, and triggering the shutter.

The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to be slightly larger across the board compared to the iPhone 15 Pro. The device will reportedly be taller, wider, and thicker than its predecessor, measuring 149.6mm x 71.4mm x 8.4mm compared to the iPhone 15 Pro’s dimensions of 146.6mm x 70.6mm x 8.25mm. The new bigger dimensions likely corroborate the inclusion of a larger 6.3-inch display as per previous rumors that also peg a 6.9-inch panel for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

While the iPhone 16 Pro will pretty much maintain the same design as its predecessors, Apple is said to be planning bigger design changes for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The company is rumored to introduce a new pill-shaped camera bump to these models, while the Capture button is expected to be included on all iPhone 16 models.
