The upcoming OLED iPad Pro is likely to feature thinner display bezels than its predecessors, according to new information and measurements shared today on Weibo.
According to “Instant Digital,” who earlier today shared other information on the OLED iPad Pro’s screen, the device will feature thinner bezels thanks to a smaller glass border surrounding the display. Per the leaker, the glass bezel will measure 7.12mm on the 11-inch model, whereas the bigger 12.9-inch model will be ever-so-slightly thinner than at 7.08mm.
The leaker’s measurements refer to the slab of glass atop the display panel, and the edge of the iPad’s metal housing will likely sightly add to those measurements. Even then, the OLED iPad Pro’s bezels are poised to be around 10 to 15 percent thinner than the current iPad Pro design, which was first introduced in October 2018.

The OLED iPad Pro is shaping to be a significant upgrade to the device’s display. In addition to the thinner bezels, the device is rumored to include an option for a matte display finish that reduces glare in bright environments. The new iPad Pro will also feature a dual-stack tandem OLED panel that combines two layers of pixels. This design makes OLED panels much brighter while achieving a longer lifespan, which is desirable for products like tablets.
OLED panels typically require fewer components surrounding the display while also being thinner than their LCD counterparts. In addition to the narrower bezels, the OLED panel’s reduced thickness should make the new iPad Pro shed a few millimeters of depth compared to its predecessor.
Beyond the display, the OLED iPad Pro will likely feature the M3 chip and landscape orientation for the TrueDepth camera system including Face ID and the front-facing camera. Apple is also working on updated accessories like a new Apple Pencil with support for the Find My network and a new Magic Keyboard to make the iPad look more laptop-like when docked. The new iPad Pro and iPad Air lineups are expected to be announced by the end of March.
