Apple plans to introduce significant changes to the macOS 15 Calculator app that will see it undergo a redesign and gain new highly-requested features, according to a new report from AppleInsider.
Per the report, the redesigned macOS 15 Calculator app carries the codename “GreyParrot” within Apple. The revamped app will introduce several design and feature changes with several new capabilities and a design that more closely resembles the Calculator app on iOS. The macOS 15 Calculator will reportedly gain rounded buttons in addition to a darker background as opposed to the current iteration with squared buttons atop a grey theme.
The report adds that Apple is also planning better window management for the app, allowing users to change the Calculator’s window size more flexibly while maintaining the selected basic, scientific, or programmer view. This flexibility is also said to extend to the buttons and number keys themselves, as they will stretch into a pill-shaped size or shrunken down to small circles.

Apple is also rumored to add a history log for easy access to results from previous calculations within the macOS 15 Calculator app. Users will be able to access previous calculations via a “history tape,” a new sidebar that can be toggled via a dedicated button situated in the app window’s top left corner.
Apple is planning to incorporate unit converting directly within the new macOS 15 Calculator app. Users will be able to select between two different units to convert between, with live conversion happening as numbers are typed. The new Calculator app will also support currency conversion, but that will require the Mac to be actively connected to the internet to pull live current conversion rates.
The report finally reiterates the new Math Notes feature, which is said to allow for tighter integration between the Notes and Calculator apps, bringing more robust support for mathematical equations and notations between the two. Math Notes is also rumored to make its way to iOS 18, but it’s unclear at this whether the iPhone software will also receive the upgraded Calculator app.
