Apple has reportedly suspended production of FineWoven accessories due to durability concerns, according to a new rumor by X leaker Kosutami. While the material offered was meant to replace leather, user experience fell short, with many users complaining of poor longevity and quality.

FineWoven debuted in September 2023 alongside the iPhone 15 lineup as a replacement for leather, positioned as an eco-friendly option made from recycled materials. However, user feedback regarding its durability has been less than stellar. Customers have reported concerning levels of wear and tear that don’t align with the premium price point.

So far, the discontinuation of FineWoven accessories and Apple Watch bands remain unconfirmed by Apple. However, considering the source and user experiences, it’s a development worth monitoring. If production has indeed ceased, it may take some time before existing FineWoven stock depletes from retail channels.

The future of Apple’s eco-friendly accessories is uncertain. With FineWoven’s potential exit, Apple will likely explore and test new options. We can expect the company to continue its pursuit of a premium, environmentally conscious material that delivers on its promise of durability.
