Apple has reportedly cut the number of Vision Pro units it plans to ship and sell for the remainder of 2024 amid falling demand, reports trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a new post on Medium today, Kuo explains that Apple has ordered its supply chain partners to assemble fewer Vision Pro units than anticipated earlier as demand falls in the United States following a strong launch. Apple now expects to ship around 400,000 to 450,000 units of its headset, compared to earlier consensus of around 800,000 units.
The cut in shipment orders also comes ahead of an international launch for Vision Pro, which could materialize before WWDC 2024 as predicted by Kuo earlier. The analyst further states that US demand “has fallen sharply beyond expectations,” and that Apple now projects conservative demand for the headset in international markets.

Kuo is doubling down on his earlier prediction that Apple won’t release a new Vision Pro model during 2024 and 2025, with the company expected to announce new models that could include a more affordable one in early 2026. If demand continues to fall, Apple could see negative year-over-year growth for Vision Pro shipments in 2025, even with a launch in more markets and new software features with the planned visionOS 2 update.
It remains to be seen how Vision Pro will perform internationally as Apple steps up internal efforts in preparation for launching in more countries. Apple Store staff in France has reportedly been invited to training sessions in Cupertino that will take place during the middle of the year to prepare them for the headset’s local release. Apple CEO Tim Cook has publicly confirmed that Vision Pro will launch in China sometime this year, though he declined to reveal an exact timeframe.
