Apple could be planning to unveil an “Apple Pencil Pro” during its “Let Loose” event tomorrow as evidenced by new code found on the company’s website in Japan (via MacRumors).
The code, first spotted by an account on X, appears to indicate the presence of an unreleased “Apple Pencil Pro” accessory. While earlier rumors and Apple’s event invitation indicate that the company could announce a new Pencil model as soon as tomorrow, this is the first indication that the new accessory could go by the “Apple Pencil Pro” moniker.
The naming convention certainly seems plausible, judging by the breadth of new features Apple is planning for its newest Pencil model. With the Apple Pencil Pro name, the company could be seeking to further differentiate the new Pencil from the entry-level model announced last October that shipped with a USB-C port and lacked certain functions like pressure sensitivity and double tap.
If the name proves correct, Apple Pencil Pro could come with new features such as support for the Find My network, haptic feedback, a new “squeeze” gesture, and an interchangeable tip system with magnetic attachment and specialized tips. Apple could also take the chance to charge more for the new Apple Pencil, with the current high-end model priced at $129.
