Apple is reportedly working on an all-new addition to the iPhone lineup that could be released as soon as next year. The device is said to be significantly thinner than any iPhone the company has released before and could be a new high-end flagship model, reports The Information.
Per the report, Apple is testing several different design iterations of the rumored iPhone, all much thinner than any current iPhone model. One tested design features a smaller cutout at the top of the screen, likely indicating a new Face ID system embedded beneath the display. The device will feature the A19 chip and an improved front-facing camera.
The screen size of the all-new iPhone is yet to be locked down, but the report says it will measure between the current 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes of today’s iPhone models. Apple could also finally redesign the iPhone’s rear camera module, moving it from the device’s upper-left corner to the top center, doing away with the current camera setup that has remained unchanged since the iPhone 11 Pro.

Today’s rumor corroborates an earlier report about the existence of a new “iPhone 17 Slim” that Apple is working on for next year and could replace today’s iPhone Plus models. The Information also adds that the rumored device will be a higher-end model than the iPhone Pro Max and will be more expensive, leading credence that the device could actually be the “iPhone 17 Ultra.”
