Apple could launch the first MacBook Pro with an OLED display as soon as 2026, according to the latest predictions from research firm Omdia.
In a note released last week, Omdia claims that the first OLED MacBook Pro could launch as soon as 2026, closely matching previous estimates that predicted a release date around that time or 2027. The note adds that adopting OLED panels for the MacBook will significantly increase the market share of OLED laptops, reaching 60 million units by 2031.
Omdia’s note reiterates that Apple is on track to release OLED iPad Air and iPad mini, following an earlier report that stated Samsung has begun supplying sample OLED displays for the smaller tablet. Apple’s adoption of OLED across its iPad lineup will help the demand for OLED tablets to exceed 30 million units by 2029.

It’s unclear whether Omdia refers to a MacBook with a foldable display or one that will continue to be based around a conventional flat panel. Last week, Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that a MacBook-like device with a foldable OLED display could be released around late 2025 or mid-2026. While the timelines of Omdia’s and Kuo’s predictions certainly match, Apple could be working on both flat and folding OLED displays for the MacBook to release them at similar timelines.
