Samsung is set to supply Apple with a new high-end OLED panel dubbed “M14” for this year’s iPhone 16 Pro models, according to a new report from ET News.

The new M14 panel is made of new materials that should allow these screens to achieve higher brightness and longer lifespan. The M-series of Samsung OLED panels is designated for the highest-end devices, and its 14th iteration is set to debut on the iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, while the base iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are set to stick with the current M12 panels.

The report adds that production of the M14 panels is set to begin momentarily as Samsung has been placing orders with its suppliers and partners to kick off the assembly of the new displays. Google is also set to be a receipt of the M14 displays for its upcoming Pixel 9 lineup and the second-generation Pixel Fold.

The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to boost a 6.3-inch display, slightly larger than the 6.1-inch panel of the iPhone 15 Pro and older iPhone generations. The iPhone 16 Pro Max will also feature a larger 6.9-inch display with both devices set to have slimmer bezels than ever thanks to the adoption of a Border Reduction Structure (BRS).

Apple is set to announce the iPhone 16 lineup as usual in September. The base iPhone 16 models are rumored to gain a new camera module design, while the Pro lineup will gain larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays. All devices are set to feature a new “Capture button” for easier camera settings control.
