The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to support Wi-Fi 7 connectivity when they launch in September, according to a new report from DigiTimes.
The change is expected to be limited to the iPhone 16 Pro models as another differentiating factor from the base iPhone 16. The Wi-Fi 7 standard enables significantly faster bandwidth speeds, lower latency, and reduced power consumption compared to Wi-Fi 6E. However, users will need to upgrade to new routers compatible with Wi-Fi 7 to take advantage of its features, which can be quite expensive.
If the rumor is accurate, the iPhone 16 Pro would be the first Apple device to support Wi-Fi 7, but this could expand quickly to high-end Mac models like the anticipated M4 MacBook Pro later this year.
