The iPad Pro represented the biggest share of total iPad sales achieved in the second quarter of 2024 on the back of the introduction of the M4 iPad Pro in May, according to new research from the Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP).
Per the research, the iPad Pro accounted for 43 percent of total iPad sales in Q2 2024, up from 38 percent during the same year-ago quarter. Apple’s high-end iPad lineup achieved this figure at the expense of the iPad Air and iPad mini, which saw their sales share stand at 12 percent and 10 percent respectively.
Sales of the iPad Air shrank from 12 percent in 2023 despite the introduction of the M2 model and a new 13-inch screen size option. The sales decline of the iPad mini, which stood at 12 percent last year, is more understandable since the device hasn’t been refreshed since September 2021.

The entry-level iPad continues to maintain its share as the second most popular model, achieving 35 percent of total sales in 2023 and 2024. Despite not being updated since October 2022, Apple gave the tablet a price cut from $449 to $349 last May alongside the M4 iPad Pro unveil, which might have boosted sales regardless of its aging specs.
Strong sales of the M4 iPad Pro alongside its increased price have reflected nicely on Apple’s most recent earnings, which saw its revenue from the iPad as a whole grow by 20 percent, achieving $7.2 billion in sales.
