The Epic Games Store is now officially available for iPhone users in the European Union thanks to the Digital Markets Act (DMA). EU iPhone users can now install the alternative marketplace to download games like Fortnite and more while skipping the App Store.
Epic is also launching its store for Android devices where it will be available worldwide. iPhone users in Europe can install the Epic Games Store through this link, with the company offering in-game awards across many titles to celebrate the marketplace’s launch.
Apple was forced to allow alternative app marketplaces on the iPhone in the EU thanks to the DMA, which aims to cripple the monopoly of Big Tech companies on mobile platforms. The changes, which went live on iOS 17.4 last March, include other ecosystem updates like opening up Safari and the iPhone NFC chip to developers. These changes will also be available on iPadOS 18 when it launches later this year.
