Apple has reportedly delayed its planned MacBook with a foldable display from an estimated 2026 launch to the end of 2027 and beyond, according to new information shared by the reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a new post on X, Kuo states that planned mass production for the foldable display MacBook is “delayed significantly” as Apple struggles with engineering problems related to the device’s overall mechanical design. As such, the device’s launch has been pushed back from the first half of 2026 to the end of 2027 at the earliest.
As Kuo reported, the foldable display was first said to measure 20.25 inches, but Apple is now quite certain to have canceled that screen size and instead go with a smaller 18.8-inch design. Kuo is also casting doubt on a foldable iPad launching before 2025, meaning that the first foldable product from Apple is still likely to be many years away.

Apple remains working on a foldable iPhone which is said to have moved into an advanced prototyping stage earlier this year. The company’s main problem to solve remains the creasing that arises at the display’s hinge as the foldable iPhone is said to be ready no earlier than 2026.
