Apple plans to equip next year’s iPhone 17 Pro Max with a few exclusive features to set it apart from the rest of the iPhone 17 lineup, according to new information shared by the reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a new post on X, Kuo states that Apple will differentiate the iPhone 17 Pro Max as the device continues to drive the biggest revenue and profit share among all other iPhone models. The device will reportedly feature 12GB of RAM, making it the first iPhone to offer more than 8GB of memory, which is expected to be the case on the iPhone SE 4, base iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and “iPhone 17 Slim.” Apple will use the increased memory to tout better performance for on-device Apple Intelligence and general AI features.
Another exclusive feature coming to the iPhone 17 Pro Max is an advanced cooling system comprised of graphite sheets and an all-new vapor chamber. Combining both elements should allow the iPhone 17 Pro Max to achieve maximum performance for longer and maintain a lower temperature when held in the user’s hand, a growing complaint among many demanding iPhone users today.

Other devices in the iPhone 17 lineup are expected to rely solely on graphite sheets as a cooling solution. The M4 iPad Pro already incorporates graphite sheets in the main housing, which Apple says has helped improve the thermal performance of the new iPad Pro by up to 20 percent. Some models of the iPhone 16 lineup are also expected to feature graphite sheets.
Other exclusive features rumored for the iPhone 17 Pro Max include a new 48-megapixel sensor for the tetraprism telephoto lens. If true, this would make the device the first iPhone model to feature a triple 48MP camera system.
