Apple today began distributing the ninth visionOS 2 beta to registered developers. visionOS 2 beta 9 comes one week after the company issued the eighth beta to developers on Wednesday, August 28.
visionOS 2 is the first major software release for Apple Vision Pro after the device became available for sale earlier this year. The update introduces welcomed additions to Apple’s spatial computer, including new gestures to trigger Home View and Control Center, train support with Travel Mode, and new Environments.
visionOS 2 makes Vision Pro work better than ever with the Mac thanks to the upgraded Mac Virtual Display with a new ultra-wide mode equivalent to two 4K monitors. Spatial Photos can now be created from 2D images via advanced machine learning algorithms. Guest User profiles are now up to 30 days long for easier operation from secondary Vision Pro users.

How to install visionOS 2 beta 9
Last year, Apple introduced a new method to install betas. Now, devices enrolled with a linked Apple Developer Program account or those who signed up with their Apple ID on Apple Developer will see a new menu under Settings -> General -> Software Update that allows users to opt into receiving beta updates. Devices that aren’t enrolled and linked to an Apple Developer account won’t see the menu and therefore aren’t able to install any new beta.
We will keep this article updated with any additional changes that we find in the ninth beta of visionOS 2, including references to new features or unreleased products.
