In addition to larger displays, the iPhone 16 Pro lineup will feature noticeably thinner bezels compared to its iPhone 15 Pro predecessor, according to a new report from Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.
More specifically, Gurman claims that the iPhone 16 Pro’s bezels are approximately one-third slimmer than those of the iPhone 15 Pro, a notable improvement considering that its bezels are already much thinner than those of the iPhone 14 Pro and earlier models. The slimmer bezels, combined with the larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, are expected to contribute to a “sleeker overall look” for the new devices
Slimmer bezels were heavily rumored as a new iPhone 16 Pro feature, with Apple and its display supplier said to be adopting a new manufacturing process called Border Reduction Structure (BRS). The process is designed to keep the bottom of the display panel as thin as possible, reducing the bottom bezel while rolling the copper wiring at the display’s bottom edge more tightly, with some wiring and circuitry bent downward at an angle.

The bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro measure around 1.55mm, which should make the iPhone 16 Pro stand at around 1.1mm for a 30 percent reduction Bloomberg claims. This could cement the iPhone 16 Pro as a smartphone with one of the thinnest bezels on the market. Bloomberg‘s report also confirms the presence of taller 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max respectively.
Apple will unveil the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro on Monday, September 9 during the “It’s Glowtime” event. Other products to be unveiled include new Apple Watch models and the fourth-generation AirPods.
