Apple has expanded the availability of the iPhone’s Roadside Assistance via satellite feature to eligible iPhone users in the United Kingdom, according to a recent update to a support document first spotted by MacRumors.
With this expansion, the UK is the second country to receive this feature after it launched in the United States last year alongside the iPhone 15 and iOS 17 releases. Apple is partnering with Green Flag to offer Roadside Assistance in the UK, and the company says the feature is available on compatible iPhone models running iOS 17 and later.
Roadside Assistance via satellite takes advantage of recent iPhones’ ability to connect breakdown services through satellites when no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage is available. Per the updated support document, UK iPhone users not subscribed to Green Flag can use Roadside Assistance on a pay-per-use basis, though pricing isn’t outlined in Apple’s document.

For Roadside Assistance via satellite to be available, Apple says iPhone users must be outside with a clear view of the sky and horizon and no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. Roadside Assistance can be summoned using Connection Assistant via Control Center or the Messages app by creating a new message, typing ‘Roadside,’ and following on-screen instructions.
Roadside Assistance via satellite is available across the iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16 lineups. Satellite connectivity for Roadside Assistance and Emergency SOS is free for the first two years after activating a compatible iPhone.
