Apple plans to begin mass production of the upcoming iPhone SE 4 by December this year before announcing the device in early 2025, trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported today.
In a new Medium post, Kuo states that Apple and its suppliers are gearing up to produce around 8.6 million units of the iPhone SE 4 beginning in December. The quoted production number is how many iPhone SE 4 units Apple plans to make between December and the first quarter of 2025, with the device widely believed to be announced between March and April.
Kuo says that the iPhone SE 4 will make it harder to follow the production mix and sales performance of the iPhone 16 lineup once the former launches. In the same Medium post today, Kuo states that Apple is likely to cut iPhone 16 production by 10 million units into the first half of 2025. As such, total iPhone production from all new models will be down by around 2 million units in the upcoming months.

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be the biggest redesign for Apple’s budget iPhone line since its introduction in 2016. The device will reportedly sport a new iPhone 14-like design with Face ID while nixing the Home button, a 6.1-inch display, and Apple Intelligence support. The device could also be the first iPhone and Apple device ever to feature the company’s in-house 5G modem.
