Apple may have just announced a new iPad mini, but speculation surrounding the next generation of the tablet has already begun. According to a new rumor, the upcoming iPad mini will feature an OLED display to replace the current LCD technology.
Today, reliable display analyst Ross Young claimed that Apple is working on an OLED display for the next-generation iPad mini. While details remain slim, this would represent a major leap for the small tablet stuck with an LCD screen since its debut in 2013. However, it could be several years before we see the OLED iPad mini as Apple has been stretching the release cycle for its smallest tablet with the last few iterations.
Apple only released the first iPad with an OLED display, the M4 iPad Pro, earlier this year in May. With the iPhone set to complete its OLED transition with the iPhone SE 4 next year, the company can now focus on moving the iPad lineup to the advanced display technology.

This wouldn’t be the first time we hear of Apple working on an OLED iPad mini. Earlier this year, several reports claimed that Apple is working with display suppliers on an OLED display fit for the small tablet with a launch no sooner than 2026.
