Following Apple’s entry into the world of AI with “Apple Intelligence,” Microsoft is reportedly considering renaming its Copilot+ suite of AI features into “Microsoft Intelligence.”
As spotted by TechRadar, references to Microsoft Intelligence were found on X earlier last month within a file structure for Windows 11. Until now, Microsoft has used the Copilot+ name for its AI features backed into Windows 11, including the company’s controversial Recall feature and image creation tools.
A move to rename Copilot+ into Microsoft Intelligence would follow in Apple’s footsteps with Apple Intelligence. Microsoft could view the transition as an easier way to market the features and better leverage the term “intelligence,” as Apple has. Apple coined the term Apple Intelligence when it announced its own suite of AI features in June at WWDC 2024.

The suite of features includes Writing Tools, Clean Up, Genmoji, Image Playground, and a smarter Siri based on a user’s personal context. Apple Intelligence has been Apple’s key selling point for the iPhone 16, however, when the lineup first launched none of the features were available. iOS 18.1, which launched last month, brought the first set of Apple Intelligence features to users, including Writing Tools and Clean Up.
In December, Apple will roll out even more features, including Genmoji for creating custom emojis, Image Playground, and ChatGPT integration with Siri and iOS. Early next year, a smarter Siri based on a user’s personal context is expected to launch before new Apple intelligence features are undoubtedly unveiled in June 2025 with iOS 19.
