Apple released the first visionOS 2.2 beta today, and the software introduces new options for the Mac Virtual Display as the company promised during WWDC 2024.
With visionOS 2.2 beta, users can now set their Mac Virtual Display to the new Wide and Ultrawide sizes when using their Vision Pro headset as an external display for the Mac. During WWDC, Apple said that the Ultrawide mode is equivalent to having two physical 4K monitors side by side. This allows for much higher resolution and more content than before.
The Mac Virtual Display now has three size options with the release of visionOS 2.2 beta: Normal, Wide, and Ultrawide. The two recent options join the Normal setting which has been present since visionOS 1 and was one of the highlight features of Vision Pro and its integration with the rest of Apple’s products. The extended Mac Virtual Display options also require the latest macOS Sequoia 15.2 beta.
