Mass production of the M5 iPad Pro is scheduled to commence by the second half of 2025, reports the trusted Ming-Chi Kuo in a new Medium post.
While details of the M5 iPad Pro remain slim, Kuo’s report today confirms that Apple plans to update its flagship iPad lineup on an annual basis following the release of the M4 model earlier this year. Much like the current iPad Pro, Kuo’s timeline suggests that the M5 iPad Pro could be one of the first Apple devices to feature the yet-to-be-announced chip.
Apple updated the iPad Pro with the M4 chip and an OLED display in May 2024. While most pundits expected the device to feature the M3 processor, Apple surprised everyone by releasing a new Apple silicon generation on an iPad for the first time. The company might repeat this next year as the first Mac models with the M5 chip are not expected till late 2025.

Beyond the Mac and iPad Pro, Apple could also release the first hardware update to the Vision Pro headset by upgrading it to the M5 chip sometime next year. The M5 chip should enable Apple Intelligence features for the first time on Vision Pro, a significant upgrade from the current M2 processor.
