The anticipated ‘iPhone 17 Slim’ is expected to be the thinnest iPhone ever made, and a new report from Korea-based Sisa Journal reveals how much thinner the new device is expected to be.
According to the report, Apple is aiming for the iPhone 17 Slim to achieve a thickness of about 6.25mm, significantly thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro, which is 8.3mm. The iPhone 17 Slim would also beat out the iPhone 6, which currently holds the title as the thinnest iPhone ever, at 6.9mm.
As a result, the iPhone 17 Slim is expected to be up to a quarter thinner than the iPhone 16 range and a similar thickness reduction compared to the iPhone 17 Pro. The device will also be significantly lighter. However, Sisa Journal doesn’t reveal any solid numbers regarding weight. Samsung is also rumored to be working on a competing ‘Galaxy S25 Slim’ device with a similar thinness to the iPhone 17 Slim.

Rather than releasing five iPhone 17 models, Apple plans the iPhone 17 Slim to replace the Plus range due to its disappointing sales. The ultra-thin iPhone will also be priced similarly to the iPhone 16 Plus, which starts at $899 in the United States. Previous rumors suggested that the iPhone 17 Slim might be a more premium offering than the iPhone 17 Pro Max with a price tag exceeding $1,200. However, that no longer seems to be the case.
As extensively reported before, the iPhone 17 Slim will focus on design innovations rather than cutting-edge specs in a bid to give the iPhone a much-needed overhaul. The device will also feature a single rear camera, no SIM tray, and an Apple-designed 5G modem. Other rumored features for the device include a non-Pro A19 chip, a 6.6-inch display, and 8GB of RAM.
