The entire iPhone 17 lineup is rumored to feature a vapor chamber cooling solution for better thermal performance after issues plaguing previous iPhone generations, according to a new report from the Chinese website MyDrivers.
Per the report, the planned hardware change is heading to the entire iPhone 17 lineup, including the base iPhone 17 and the mysterious “iPhone 17 Air” model. The new vapor chamber would build upon the graphene sheets cooling system currently present on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The adoption of vapor chamber would provide various improvements over graphene sheets. First, the new technology will reportedly be present on all iPhone 17 models rather than being exclusive to the Pro range. Moreover, combining vapor chambers with graphene sheets could allow for better sustained performance and lower operating temperatures on the iPhone 17 Pro, something that would perfectly go hand in hand with the anticipated A19 Pro chip.

Thermal performance issues on the iPhone became apparent with the iPhone 15 Pro, where early users complained about the device getting too warm to the touch from moderate use. Apple rushed with a software update to fix the issue, stressing that it wad a software bug and not a hardware problem. With the iPhone 16 Pro, the company added graphene sheets and made some changes to the aluminium substructure of the titanium chassis, massively improving thermals over the iPhone 15 Pro.
