The elusive “iPhone 17 Air” is rumored to be an all-new iPhone design the company is preparing to announce as soon as this year to replace the underwhelming Plus range. Today, the first purported iPhone 17 Air leak has made its way to the web, revealing an overhauled design that corroborates with earlier rumors.
The leaker Majin Bu has shared what appears to be the first physical iPhone 17 Air leak, with an image allegedly showing two identical back panels of the anticipated iPhone model. The back panels reveal an all-new camera bump design with a raised bar spanning the entire width of the device rather than a square bump in the iPhone’s top corner.
The iPhone 17 Air leak shown today matches up with rumored details of the design direction Apple is adopting with the upcoming iPhone lineup. The company is said to be considering a new back design, with some portions made of aluminium and the bottom section continuing to use glass for wireless charging. The leaked image today also contains a smaller hole at the opposite side, likely reserved for the LED flash.
The base iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models are likely to follow the same general design shown in the iPhone 17 Air leak today, with the elongated camera bump and dual and triple camera lens systems respectively. While today’s leak generally matches with the design direction Apple is rumored to be taking with the iPhone 17, the device remains at least eight months away from its formal introduction. As such, this leak should be taken with a grain of salt, especially as Apple could change some design elements before finalizing it.
The iPhone 17 Air, also referred to as iPhone 17 Slim, is rumored to be an all-new addition to the iPhone lineup, one that would be the thinnest iPhone ever made at just 5.5mm thin as previously reported. Other feature of the iPhone 17 Air include no physical SIM tray, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, a single speaker, 6.6-inch OLED display, and non-Pro A19 chip.
