The iPhone 17 lineup is now expected to have no Dynamic Island changes compared to previous iPhone generations, according to new information shared by the reliable Ming-Chi Kuo.
In a new post on X, Kuo claims that the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 17 will remain “largely unchanged” compared to the design seen today on the iPhone 16 lineup and earlier. Kuo states that the lack of change will be observed across the entire iPhone 17 lineup, contradicting earlier reports that claimed at least one model will have a smaller Dynamic Island of some sort.
If true, the Dynamic Island would maintain the same form since its introduction four years ago on the iPhone 14 Pro. Replacing the notch on earlier generations, the Dynamic Island is Apple’s intuitive solution to hide the hole-punch cutouts for the TrueDepth camera system, blending it with some software functions like Live Activities.
Kuo’s information today contradicts an earlier report shared by the analyst Jeff Pu, who stated that Apple will make the Dynamic Island smaller on at least one iPhone 17 model later this year. It is possible that Apple was indeed testing a smaller cutout for the iPhone 17, yet opted to continue with its current size due to manufacturing problems and high costs.
