Apple plans to remove a number of components on a more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset in a bid to reduce its price as much as possible, according to a new Bloomberg article.
In the latest weekly edition of the Power On newsletter, it is said that Apple will totally axe certain components that are deemed too costly for a cheaper version of its headset. For starters, the company is likely to drop its EyeSight external OLED display, in addition to cutting down on the number of cameras and sensors that adorn Vision Pro’s housing.
While Apple is yet to settle on a certain price point for the cheaper headset, the company is said to target a price in the range of $1,500 to $2,500, significantly cheaper than the $3,499 price tag of the current Vision Pro. The report reiterates that Apple will also switch to lower-resolution displays and an A-series iPhone chip in place of the current M2 processor and dual 4K displays.

Today’s report is an indication that Apple is still actively working on a cheaper model of Vision Pro, something that was cast in doubt earlier when Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the company might have altogether canceled the lower-cost product.
Apple also continues to work on a second-generation fully-fledged Vision Pro in addition to the cheaper model, which the company reportedly aims to make thinner, lighter, and thus more comfortable to wear compared to the announced first-generation headset.
