Despite Apple being left empty-handed for this cycle of the Oscars, Apple TV+ original content has won multiple awards in the past few years. In 2022, Apple won its first-ever Best Picture award thanks to Sian Heder’s CODA. The title went on to score two additional wins, with Best Supporting Actor for Troy Kotsur and Best Adapted Screenplay for Sian Heder.
Apple had another smaller presence as an Oscar winner in 2023 with the Best Animated Short Film award given to Charlie Mackesy’s and Peter Baynton’s The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse. All in all, this year’s Oscars was a major disappointment for streaming services despite 32 total nominations and just a single win belonging to Netflix. The streaming giant produced Wes Anderson’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, which went on to win Best Live Action Short Film.
