All four iPhone 16 models are expected to receive much thinner bezels thanks to a new manufacturing technology, according to sources who spoke to Sisa Journal.
The upcoming iPhone 16 generation will utilize a new technology known as Border Reduction Structure (BRS). The technology is designed to keep the bottom of the display panel as thin as possible, reducing the bottom bezel while rolling the copper wiring at the display’s bottom edge. Samsung, LG & BOE have purportedly secured the technology and will be ready to begin shipping with the iPhone 16 series.
The standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models are expected to retain the same 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screen sizes, which should make the overall physical dimensions smaller than their predecessors while keeping the same screen sizes. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro models are said to be increasing to 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays respectively, which matches recent reports suggesting the increases.

Apple in recent years has continued to work on reducing the bezel size on the iPhone lineup, most recently with the iPhone 15 Pro series, which saw the overall footprint of the devices decrease thanks to the thinner borders. Apple implementing this technology will see work continue to reduce the bezels on the phones, and allows the standard models to get smaller and more comfortable, and the Pro models to increase screen sizes.
