ChatGPT integration with Apple Intelligence and Siri will arrive on iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia before the end of this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed during the company’s Q3 2024 earnings call.
Cook was asked whether the company plans to launch all Apple Intelligence capabilities at once or whether they will be staggered. Cook has confirmed that Apple Intelligence features will roll out gradually as was seen with the launch of the first iOS 18.1 beta. Cook also addressed the subject of ChatGPT integration as was revealed during WWDC, stating that the feature is on track to be available “by the end of the calendar year.”
It’s unclear if Cook is referring to iOS 18.1 as the point of availability for ChatGPT integration, but the wording of his answer suggests that it will launch in a subsequent release to the iOS 18.1 update, likely as part of iOS 18.2. To recall, Apple launched iOS 17.2 on December 11, 2023, and launching iOS 18.2 with ChatGPT integration this December would fulfill Cook’s statement today.

As covered earlier, Apple Intelligence features currently available for developers to test on the iOS 18.1 beta are mostly limited to Writing Tools, a new Focus mode, Smart Reply, and text summarization in apps like Mail, Safari, and notifications.
There’s still no word on the availability of other Apple Intelligence features like Image Playground and Genmoji, but those could also be released as part of the iOS 18.2 update. Bigger Apple Intelligence features, like the all-new Siri with personal context understanding and on-screen awareness, are much further out, with a planned launch no earlier than spring 2025.
